Mobile Application vs Mobile Website

More than 70% of all world population uses mobile. Of all the internet users, more than 87% come through mobile devices. This population is productive population. Most of the target audience of all businesses are online now. A very simple mathematics implies that if you want to reach your audience, be available online on mobile devices.

Now, the next question evolves: mobile application or mobile website? Both are the platform one can use via mobile and are handy for business. Depending upon the nature and need, a business might or might not need both.

Mobile Website

Mobile website is a website commonly designed for desktop and other devices, but responsive. Designer use extra and different codes to make a responsive website. Regarding the use of mobile internet, nowadays all the web development companies build responsive websites. It gives you ease in visiting the website through small devices like mobile, tablet and like.

Building a website for a company or business is the first step to go digital. The only thing to keep in mind is to build it as responsive website.

Pros of Mobile Website

Website gives you a broader audience, it's not limited to local audience. Since a website doesn't need installation, your customers can visit you through any browser. Also, websites are compatible with almost all the browsers, so no compatibility issue with mobile devices.

Updating a website is far more easier than updating a mobile app. You just have to make the changes and publish once. Unlike apps, users cannot delete a website from their device.

A website can be easily found on search engines. You can also work on search engine optimization to enhance the ranking of your website in search engine results. It helps to increase traffic to your website and supposed to increase ROI.

It is way cheaper than building an app. It can offer everything an app can offer and yet is cost effective.

Therefore, if your website is just informative and does not offer products or services, it is wiser to have a responsive website. This way, you can address all the audiences from desktop users to mobile users and spread the information about your company and what you do.

Pros of Mobile Application

Does your company sell products or services? Or do you provide categorized information? Then you should not stop at website. Mobile application has lot to offer to your business.

A data shows that people use 80 - 90% of their time on internet to go through apps and rest 20 - 10% to surf through browsers. People use average of 9 apps on daily basis. Your new goal should not only to build an app but also to be one of those 9 apps people use daily.

An app is stored in local device, so fetching and loading is faster than a website. App frameworks are 5 times faster than Javascript frameworks. It's just a matter of flash of time for your customers to change their mind. That's why, speed matters!

For some apps, specially informative ones, internet is only needed to download, install and update once in a while. You can use them offline. Almost all the apps offer offline features to the users, through which they can access to certain data in no internet access situation. For example, if you sell things through your app, the users can go through the updated list of products and they can add them to the cart.

An app is a personalized and interactive tool. You can track your logged in users' locations and present the filtered and personal offers. When you send the same offers to every customer, the offers that a customer would be really interested in has the chance to disappear in the flood. With personalization, you can build a profound relationship with your clients.

An extraordinary feature of mobile app is push notification. You can sent instant updates to selective customers as push notification. An app increases your brand presence. It is cost effective in a sense that it ensures the ROI better than any other thing.

In conclusion, both the mobile website and mobile application have their benefits and limitations. One should decide which would make more sense for their business and should go for it. If you manage it well, it will certainly bring progress for your business and your company.
